PURPOSE OF THE CLUB The Fort Worth
Magicians Club, Inc. is a non-profit corporation organized under the Texas Non-Profit Corporation Act. The club's purpose is to promote the art of magic illusion (i.e. sleight-of-hand, prestidigitation, and
legerdemain). The Fort Worth Magicians Club was organized on September 6, 1940 at the home of Ren Clark after several magic enthusiasts began meeting together to share their love for magic. Ren Clark
served as President of the International Brotherhood of Magicians in 1947-48, and in 1948 the club became affiliated with the IBM as the "Ren Clark IBM Ring 15, The Fort Worth Magicians Club." . |

Due to legal requirements for non-profit corporation status and other liability related issues, in 2004 The Fort Worth
Magicians Club and the Ren Clark IBM Ring 15 voted to became seperate entitites, while at the same time continuing to meet simultaneously. Likewise on Thursday June 1, 2006, The Fort Worth Magicians Club,
the Ren Clark IBM Ring 15, and the Bruce Chadwick SAM Assembly 138 of the Society of American Magicians all voted to start meeting together. Now all three magic entities meet concurrently to practice, promote and seek the advancement of the art of magic. At
the same time, the SAM Assembly and the IBM Ring maintain separatism for proper alignment with their respective national magic organizations, and The Fort Worth Magicians Club Inc remains independent from the IBM Ring and SAM Assembly to fulfill the obligations of it's non-profit legal status.

The club opposes the willful exposure to the public the principles of the art of magic and the methods employed in magic
effects and illusions. The club seeks to display ethical behavior in the presentation of magic to the public and in conduct as magicians, including not interfering with or jeopardizing the performance of
another magician either through personal intervention or the unauthorized use of other's creations. The club recognizes and respects the rights of the creators, inventors, authors and owners of magic
concepts, presentations, effects and literature, and their rights to have exclusive use of, or to grant permission for the use by others of such creations. |

Furthermore the club discourages false and misleading statements in the advertising of effects, and literature, merchandise or
actions pertaining to the magical arts. The club discourages advertising in magical publications for any magical apparatus, effect, literature, or other materials for which the advertiser does not have commercial
rights. The club also promotes the humane treatment and care of livestock used in magical performances. The club also seeks to promote harmony in the magical arts, advance the ethics of the magic profession, and carry out educational programs that benefit and increase the
knowledge of the illusion arts to members of the club. Membership is open to all interested magicians whether beginner, part-time pro, or professional. Potential candidates must complete an application
process and a presentation before the club to demonstrate one's interest in magic. See " Join" for more details. |
